Doodemanskisten is a small dune lake north of the village of West-Terschelling. Various stories are known about the name. Like the saga of a princess living in the castle who had the corpses of castaways boxed in to bury them in the temporarily drained moat of the castle. Together with the former forester's cottage, it forms a beautiful and quiet spot in the woods. In winter with snow and ice it is picturesque.
