One of the oldest buildings in the village of Hoorn is the beach foundry barn, which is still almost in its original state. The barn was built in 1798. In the past, the jute items were stored here and kept until the rightful owner came forward. When this did not happen, the beachcomber usually claimed the finder's and salvage wages. Today it is a storage place for all associations on East Terschelling.
