't Wakend Oog

The Wakend Oog, on the corner of Willem Barentszkade and Torenstraat, has no fewer than three names. The most heard is 't Wakend Oog, because of the gable stone. 't Wachthuuske is also used. The official name, however, is the Willem Barentszhuis. Both internally and externally it was built as a Masonic temple, which makes it very unique. The 'Schippers and Watersports Association Het Wakend Oog' is the current owner of the building dating from 1882 and it is used as a coffee house. The intimate café is open every day at 9 a.m. all year round. You can sit outside on the terrace by the harbor .
