From a distance, the height of the Kaapsdune 'Kaapsduin', the lookout point of Oosterend, seems not too bad. Once you have conquered the steep steps on this 21-metre-high dune, the dune is a bit higher than you expected. From the top of the Kaapsdune you have a 360-degree view of Oosterend. To the north you look out over the dunes, with the North Sea in the distance. And to the south you look at the polder, towards the Waddendijk and associated Wadden Sea. Climb the steps and enjoy the beautiful view. The Kaapsduin can be reached via the Duinweg between the villages of Oosterend and Hoorn.
